ā˜€ļø The Scoop on Hudson Weather

It’s a bit of a weather rollercoaster this week — we’re kicking things off with some thunder and wrapping up with blue skies and sunshine. Basically, Mother Nature’s doing her usual ā€œdon’t pack away that jacket yetā€ routine.

Grab your umbrella (and maybe your sunglasses too). Here’s what’s coming to a sky near you:

  • ā›ˆļø Monday, May 5 – High 66° / Low 49°
PM thunderstorms rolling through with a 69% chance of rain. (Might be a good night to stay in and guess the Mystery Movie at Regal.)
  • šŸŒ§ļø Tuesday, May 6 – High 59° / Low 49°
A soggy one with rain most of the day and temps dipping into the 50s. (Plan for puddles.)
  • ā›… Wednesday, May 7 – High 69° / Low 49°
Partly cloudy with just a 15% chance of rain. (Basically, the weather equivalent of a shrug.)
  • šŸŒ¤ļø Thursday, May 8 – High 62° / Low 43°
Cloudy morning giving way to sunshine later on. (Hold tight — brighter skies ahead.)
  • ā˜€ļø Friday, May 9 – High 67° / Low 45°
Sunny and gorgeous with almost no chance of rain. (Get those lunch plans on a patio.)

Wrap-up? It’s a little wet early in the week, but things dry out just in time for the weekend. Hang in there — the sun is on the way! šŸŒž

šŸ“° Fresh Off the Clocktower

šŸŽ‰ Happy Cinco de Mayo, Hudson!

It’s Monday, but it’s not just any Monday—today’s got a little extra zest.

Cinco de Mayo marks the anniversary of Mexico’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It’s a day that celebrates Mexican culture, resilience, and, let’s be honest, some seriously good food.

If you're looking for a reason to ditch the leftovers and celebrate with something a little spicier, here are a few local spots worth raising a margarita to:

🌮 Don Patron Mexican Grill (5835 Darrow Rd)
Go for the chimichangas, stay for the jumbo margaritas. This place will be buzzing with good vibes and great specials today—perfect for a quick bite or a full-blown fiesta.

🌮 Barrio Tacos (36 Park Ln)
This spot is all about build-your-own tacos and bold flavors. Try their ā€œHot as Cluckā€ taco—Nashville fried chicken with hot mac 'n' cheese and avocado ranch slaw—or sip on a Hot Honey Grapefruit Margarita. They also offer a variety of unique sauces, including the fiery Carolina Reaper and the sweet-and-spicy Mango Habanero. barrio-tacos.com

🌮 Spicy Sombrero Mexican Grill (4976 Darrow Rd, Stow)
This cozy spot is known for its authentic flavors and vibrant atmosphere. Their Spicy Burrito, loaded with steak or chicken, chorizo, and habanero sauce, is a must-try. Pair it with a grapefruit margarita rimmed with TajĆn for a refreshing kick. Don't miss their Tres Leches cake for a sweet finish. spicysombrerostogo.com

Want to turn your lunch break into a mini-vacation? These places are ready.

Ā”Feliz Cinco de Mayo, Hudson! šŸŒ¶ļø

šŸŽ Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week in Hudson!

It’s officially Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week, and we’re kicking things off with some serious Hudson pride. Every classroom, hallway, and library in this town is powered by passionate, hardworking educators—and this week, it’s their turn to shine.

Mark your calendar: National Teacher Day is tomorrow (Tuesday), May 6. That’s your cue to send a kind note, drop off a favorite snack, or give a well-deserved shoutout to the teachers and school staff who make Hudson awesome.

šŸŽ“ Meet This Year’s Hudson PTO Honorees:

  • Peter Davis – 2024–2025 K–5 Teacher of the Year
  • Michael Fejes – 2024–2025 6–12 Teacher of the Year
  • Joy Carlson – 2024–2025 Staff Member of the Year

These three go above and beyond to support students, cheer on their peers, and bring energy to our schools. If you spot them this week, give 'em a high five (or a cookie—we won’t judge).

šŸ’” Easy Ways to Show the Love:

  • Write a quick thank-you note—bonus points for crayons or glitter
  • Drop off coffee, snacks, or classroom supplies
  • Share a social shoutout about your favorite teacher or staff member
  • Ask your kid to draw a picture or write a message—they’ll love it, and so will the teacher

šŸ›ļø Bonus for Educators:

Lots of national businesses are offering freebies and discounts to educators this week—think coffee, classroom supplies, meals, and more. Instead of listing them all here, we’re linking to a full roundup so you can see what’s available and take full advantage.

Check out the 2025 Teacher Appreciation Week Deals & Freebies

This week is all about gratitude. Let’s celebrate the folks who make our schools more than just buildings—they make them feel like home.

Thank you, Hudson educators. You’re the real MVPs.

šŸŽ‰ 25 Years of Giving: Hudson Community Foundation Hits a Milestone

A standing ovation is in order—Hudson Community Foundation is celebrating 25 years of making our hometown a better place to live, learn, and give.

What started in 2000 with a small but mighty group of volunteers (shoutout to Phil Tobin and Bill Wooldredge) has grown into a powerhouse of generosity. Back then, they kicked things off with 25 donor-advised funds. Today? Over 200. And $36.2 million in assets.

The mission hasn’t changed: connect donors to the causes they care about and strengthen life in Hudson. From mental health services in our schools to drug-free clubs, historic preservation to senior support—the foundation has touched nearly every corner of the community.

They run two grant cycles each year and just last year, awarded over $50,000 to local nonprofits. And if you’ve ever thought about starting a fund of your own, they make it simple—whether you’re supporting something local or a cause close to your heart across the country.

To mark the 25th anniversary, they’ve got a few things up their sleeve: a special community grant program (details coming soon) and their annual gala on September 13.

If you want to learn more or explore starting a fund, visit myhcf.org. And to Amy Jordan, the board, and every volunteer past and present—Hudson says thank you. You’ve made a difference. Here's to the next 25! šŸ„‚

Hudson’s creative roots are getting the spotlight they deserve.

Join the Peg’s Foundation this Friday, May 9 from 5–7 PM for the opening reception of Drawn Together: Women Artists of Hudson. Hosted at the historic Baldwin-Buss-Merino House (53 First Street), this new exhibit honors the legacy of eight trailblazing women whose work shaped the artistic spirit of our town.

You’ll see everything from painting and graphic design to intricate needlework and historic decorative art—pieces that reflect not just talent, but the lasting impact these artists had on Hudson’s cultural scene.

The exhibit was curated by Katie Coulton and Linda Weary Bricker, along with the dedicated Drawn Together Committee.

šŸ† Roll Hud Recap

šŸ„ Boys’ Lacrosse Rolls Through the Weekend

The Explorers were on a mission this weekend—and they absolutely delivered. On Saturday, they hosted St. Francis DeSales and walked away with a dominant 16–4 win. The scoreboard wasn’t the only thing lighting up—all three goalies got time in the net, giving us a look at Hudson’s defensive future. Senior Cooper Lewis, sophomore Jack Sutton, and freshman Ethan Hall each held it down between the pipes, proving that the goalie depth chart is in very good hands.

Then on Sunday, Hudson kept the momentum going with a 16–3 victory over Springboro in a total team effort. Crisp passing, smart transitions, and solid defense—this squad is hitting its stride.

Next up? Solon comes to town Tuesday night. If you’re looking for a high-energy game on home turf, this is it.

Let’s go, Explorers! šŸ„šŸ’Ŗ

šŸ€ Game 1 Goes to the Pacers — But This Series Is Just Getting Started

The Cavs kicked off Round 2 of the playoffs last night (Sunday) at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse… and let’s just say the Pacers showed up ready. Cleveland fell 121–112 in Game 1, despite another monster performance from Donovan Mitchell, who dropped 33 points and made playoff history (that’s eight straight Game 1s with 30+ — the most ever, passing some guy named Michael Jordan šŸ‘€).

Indiana came in hot, with five players in double digits and some red-hot shooting from beyond the arc. We’re talking 52.8% from three. Meanwhile, the Cavs struggled from deep, hitting less than 24% of their shots from long range — and felt the absence of Darius Garland, who sat this one out with a toe injury.

Not the start we hoped for, but there’s plenty of basketball left. Here's the rest of the schedule:

  • šŸ€ Game 2: Tomorrow (Tuesday), May 6 at 7:00 PM
  • šŸ€ Game 3: Friday, May 9 at 7:30 PM
  • šŸ€ Game 4: Sunday, May 11 at 8:00 PM
  • šŸ€ Game 5: Tuesday, May 13 — Time TBD (if necessary)
  • šŸ€ Game 6: Thursday, May 15 — Time TBD (if necessary)
  • šŸ€ Game 7: Sunday, May 18 — Time TBD (if necessary)

Want to cheer them on live? We found a good spot to grab seats: šŸŽŸļø Get Cavs playoff tickets on SeatGeek

Cleveland’s not done — and neither are we. Let’s go, Cavs. šŸ”„šŸ’Ŗ
