☀️ The Scoop on Hudson Weather
Hope your umbrella’s within arm’s reach—this week is looking like a spring classic: warm temps, sudden showers, and just enough sunshine to keep the backyard blooming. We're on a first-name basis with humidity at this point.
The good news? The weekend’s shaping up nicely (if we dodge the Friday pop-up storms). Here’s the breakdown:
- 🌧️ Today (Mon), May 12 – 78°/60°
PM showers rolling in. (Your afternoon walk might come with a splash.) - ⛈️ Tue, May 13 – 72°/60°
Thunderstorms by evening. (Dinner plans = indoors.) - ⛈️ Wed, May 14 – 75°/60°
More afternoon rumbles expected. (Mother Nature’s really into percussion this week.) - 🌤️ Thu, May 15 – 82°/66°
Partly cloudy with a hint of summer. (Perfect patio weather.) - ⛈️ Fri, May 16 – 84°/60°
Isolated storms could sneak in. (Sun’s out… but don’t trust it.)
Looks like a “keep your raincoat and sunglasses in the same bag” kind of week. Welcome to Ohio!

Now’s the perfect time to dust off that bike, pump up the tires, and ride into the day feeling like a local legend. You’ll skip the gas pump, enjoy the spring breeze, and maybe even discover a shortcut you never knew existed.
🛠️ Before you roll out:
- Check your brakes, tires, and lights
- Grab a helmet and something bright
- Pack a snack or two—you earned it
Looking for a scenic ride? Hudson’s got you. Cruise through the Bike & Hike Trail, loop around Hudson Springs Park, or stick to the calm backroads with just the birds and breeze for company.
📅 Dates to note:
- Bike to Work Week: May 12–18
- Bike to Work Day: Friday, May 16
Riding with friends? Snag a photo and tag it with #BikeToWorkWeek—we might just feature you in an upcoming edition. Spandex is optional, but highly entertaining.
Let’s make this week one to remember: less traffic, more smiles, and the simple joy of a good ride. See you out there! 🚲
⭐ May Is Military Appreciation Month — Here’s Why It Matters
May isn’t just about flowers blooming—it’s about honoring those who’ve served our country with courage and commitment. Military Appreciation Month was officially designated by Congress in 1999 to encourage all Americans to reflect on the sacrifices made by service members, veterans, and their families—not just on one day, but all month long.
Still ahead this month:
- May 17 – Armed Forces Day: A day to honor those actively serving in the U.S. military.
- May 27 – Memorial Day: A solemn occasion to remember those who gave their lives in service to our nation.
Here in Hudson, we’re doing more than flying flags. From parades to poppies, we’re coming together to show appreciation in big and small ways. (Speaking of which—don’t miss the poppy fundraiser happening May 16 & 17. Details are below. 👇)
Take time this month to thank a veteran, listen to their story, or support a military family in your neighborhood. The gesture doesn’t have to be grand—it just has to be sincere.
Let’s keep the gratitude going, Hudson-style.
❤️ Red Poppies for a Powerful Cause – May 16 & 17
You’ll spot a small but mighty symbol popping up around Hudson soon—the classic red poppy. Members of the American Legion Auxiliary, Lee-Bishop Unit #464, along with local veterans, will be out at Acme and Discount Drug Mart on Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, distributing handmade red crepe paper poppies.
These bright little flowers aren’t just pretty—they’re packed with meaning. In exchange for a donation, you’ll receive a poppy that honors the sacrifice of those who served. And here’s the best part: 100% of all donations go directly to support veterans, active-duty service members, and their families.
So if you're running errands this coming weekend, keep an eye out, stop by, and make a difference—one red flower at a time. 🌺

🥍 Hudson Girls Lacrosse: Undefeated and Nationally Ranked!
Hudson’s girls varsity lacrosse team just wrapped up a perfect regular season—and they made it look effortless.
With a dominant 17–1 win over Wadsworth in their final regular season matchup, the Explorers improved to 16–0, locking in an undefeated run that’s been as exciting as it’s been unstoppable.
And it’s not just local fans who’ve noticed—Hudson is now ranked #57 in the nation (out of 2,323 teams!) and sits at #4 in Ohio, according to MaxPreps. That’s next-level.
The team’s success has been a true group effort, with big contributions across the board. Mackie Stickler has been lighting it up all season—she scored 7 goals in the win over Solon alone. Kellen Berkeley added 2 goals and 3 assists, and Grace Churchwell chipped in with 2 goals and a helper.
Also adding to the scoring sheet: Libby Thomas, Katie England, Kelsie Moore, Emily Goodman, Lexie St. Pierre, Lauren Brownley, Ashli Pearson, and Claire Orazen. St. Pierre and Orazen each handed out 2 assists, with Moore, England, and Brownley dishing out one apiece.
With the regular season in the books, all eyes are now on the postseason. And if this team keeps playing the way they have? Buckle up.

🏀 Cavs Back Against the Wall in Game 5
After a tough 129–109 loss in Game 4, the Cavs are heading back to Cleveland down 3–1 in the series—and facing elimination.
The biggest blow? Donovan Mitchell exited at halftime with a non-contact ankle injury after scoring just 12 points. He’s been the heart of the offense this postseason, averaging over 40 points per game before Sunday’s setback. His status for Game 5 is still up in the air.
Without him, the Cavs struggled with turnovers (22 of them) and got buried in the second quarter, being outscored 42–16. Darius Garland led the team with 21 points, but it wasn’t enough to slow down Indiana’s trio of Pascal Siakam, Myles Turner, and Obi Toppin—all of whom dropped 20+ points.
Now it’s do-or-die. Game 5 tips off Tuesday at 7 PM in Cleveland, and the Cavs will need every bit of home court magic—and hopefully a healthy Mitchell—to stay alive in the playoffs.
Let’s rally, Cleveland. It’s not over yet! 🏀🔥
