☀️ The Scoop on Hudson Weather
We’re in that classic Northeast Ohio dance between sunshine and soggy mornings — but the weekend’s shaping up nicely, and next week ends with some solid patio potential. Here's how the skies are looking:
- 🌦 Friday, 6/6 – 74°/58°: Morning showers roll through early. (Maybe wait a bit before mowing the lawn.)
- ⛅ Saturday, 6/7 – 76°/56°: Partly cloudy and just about perfect. (Great day for strolling First & Main.)
- 🌧 Sunday, 6/8 – 76°/60°: A few morning sprinkles, then mostly dry. (Grab a coffee, dodge a drop.)
- ⛈ Monday, 6/9 – 72°/56°: Scattered thunderstorms pop in. (Umbrellas up, just in case.)
- ☁️ Tuesday, 6/10 – 73°/56°: Mostly cloudy, but dry. (Could be worse. Could be snow.)
- ☀️ Wednesday, 6/11 – 76°/57°: Sunshine all day. (Peak “eat lunch outside” energy.)
- ☀️ Thursday, 6/12 – 83°/62°: Bright, warm, and breezy. (Hello, iced coffee season.)
- ⛅ Friday, 6/13 – 80°/63°: Partly cloudy with a summer vibe. (Good excuse to clock out early.)
Overall? We’re trending sunnier with just a few curveballs. June’s doing what June does.

Let’s make something local happen.
📰 Fresh Off the Clocktower
🍩 It’s National Donut Day — Let’s Celebrate the Sweet Stuff
Today’s not just a sugar-coated excuse to grab a dozen (though we fully support that). It’s National Donut Day, and it comes with a pretty amazing backstory.
The holiday dates back to 1938, when The Salvation Army created it to honor the “Donut Lassies” — women who served donuts and coffee to soldiers on the front lines during World War I. They brought comfort, a taste of home, and a lot of heart to some tough corners of the world.
So yes, donuts today are absolutely encouraged. And if you want to keep it local (which we always do)...
George’s Donuts in Twinsburg (7995 Darrow Rd) is serving up big, old-school favorites that locals have loved since 1968. Fluffy, fresh, and worth the drive.
Peace, Love and Little Donuts right here in Hudson is the spot for mini donuts with major personality. From maple bacon to s’mores, these groovy little rings are dressed to impress.
Celebrate the day, honor the history, and treat yourself to something fried and fantastic. You’ve earned it.
🗳️ Council Catch-Up: What Went Down on June 2
Tuesday night’s city council meeting had all the ingredients of a classic: a little debate, some hometown progress, and a few neighborly shout-outs. Here's what you missed while you were out enjoying the sunshine:
- Downtown Development is still the hot topic. Council kept the conversation going around how to evolve the First & Main area without losing the charm that makes Hudson feel like home. No big moves yet, but they’re clearly laying groundwork.
- Sidewalks are getting some love. A new plan could close the gap on missing walkways near parks and schools. Safety and accessibility were the name of the game — especially for kids, runners, and dog walkers.
- Hudson Springs Trail Expansion is moving right along. Staff gave a summer update: the new loop trail is coming soon, and it's looking like a mid-season ribbon-cutting.
- Residents showed up and spoke up. Hot-button mentions included speeding on side streets, storm cleanup kudos, and a few concerns about the deer population.
Next meeting is in two weeks. If you're curious, concerned, or just like watching civic drama with your coffee, it’s worth tuning in.
🌠 Skywatch Alert: Arietid Meteor Shower Peaks Saturday Morning
Set your alarm a little early tomorrow—because Saturday, June 7 is bringing one of the summer sky’s secret gems: the Arietid meteor shower. It’s one of the strongest daytime showers of the year, but if you’re up before sunrise, you might just catch it lighting up the dawn.
While most of the action happens once the sun is up, skywatchers with good timing and a clear eastern view could see several bright streaks before the sky turns blue.
Here’s how to spot it:
- When to look: Just before sunrise on Saturday (think 4:30–5:30 AM)
- Where to look: Low in the eastern sky near the constellation Aries
- What to expect: A handful of early flashes—quick, bright, and worth the chill
Pro tip: Give your eyes 20–30 minutes to adjust to the dark, and head to a spot without streetlights or screen glow. It’s a short window, but a quiet early morning sky show never disappoints.
Coffee optional. Awe guaranteed.
🌽 Market Season Is Back!
Just a quick reminder: Hudson’s Farmers Market kicks off this Saturday morning on the Clocktower Green! You’ll find fresh produce, local meats, flowers, baked goods, and more—all from friendly faces you’ll want to support.
It runs from 9 AM to 12:30 PM every Saturday through October. Early birds get the best tomatoes. Just saying.

🎨 Art by the Falls Is This Weekend — And It’s Bigger Than Ever
One of Northeast Ohio’s favorite summer art festivals is back—and they’re not holding back this year. Art by the Falls returns Saturday and Sunday (June 7–8) at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field in Chagrin Falls, and it’s shaping up to be the biggest version yet.
Now in its 41st year, the event will feature 160+ juried artists from all over the country, offering up everything from handmade ceramics and bold oil paintings to intricate glasswork and one-of-a-kind jewelry. It’s a great place to browse, shop, or just stroll and admire some serious creative talent.
New for 2025:
- A more spacious layout with wider walkways and better accessibility
- Even more food trucks (bring your appetite)
- An enhanced Kids’ Tent with crafts, face painting, and take-home goodies
- Live music all weekend to set the scene
The festival runs Saturday 10 AM – 7 PM and Sunday 10 AM – 4 PM. Admission is free, parking is available onsite, and trolley service will be running to and from downtown Chagrin Falls. Just leave the pups at home—dogs aren’t allowed in the artist area this year.

🛍️ Peninsula Flea Kicks Off This Saturday
Looking for a weekend wander that doesn’t feel cookie-cutter? The Peninsula Flea at Heritage Farms returns this Saturday, June 7, and it’s a treasure hunt worth the drive.
Set on a 177-year-old family farm in the Cuyahoga Valley, this open-air market is all about high-quality handmade, repurposed, and vintage finds. Think artisan goods, quirky antiques, upcycled furniture, original art, and vendors who are just as interesting as their wares. It’s not your average flea market—and that’s the point.
📍 Where: Heritage Farms, 6050 Riverview Rd, Peninsula, OH
🕙 When: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM — rain or shine
🗓️ Future dates: June 28, July 5, July 26, August 9
Each month features a different mix of 50–70 vendors, so no two visits are ever the same. Grab a bite from one of the food trucks, enjoy the shade under the old barns and gazebo, and take in the views of the Christmas tree farm while you browse.
Parking is free. Entry is free. The vibes? Immaculate.
Just a heads-up: dogs need to sit this one out (unless they’re licensed service animals).

🎶 Sunday Sounds: 3 Birds and The Wire Take the Green
Wrap up your weekend with some throwback flair — the Hudson Bandstand Concert Series rolls on this Sunday, June 8, with a groovy performance from 3 Birds and The Wire.
This all-female trio is bringing their “Sincerely, The 60s” show to the Gazebo Green from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, backed by a live band and a lineup of classics like “Stop in the Name of Love” and “Stand By Me.” You’ll get soaring harmonies, big energy, and maybe even feel the urge to twist and shout (no judgment).
Bring a chair, bring a friend, and bring your best retro dance moves. And if the skies turn sour, no worries — the show will move inside to Hudson Middle School at 83 N. Oviatt Street.
More info here: City calendar and Bandstand page.
For last-minute updates, check Hudson Bandstand on Facebook.
🎉 A Block Party Worth the Drive
Looking for something a little different this weekend? Pack up the car and head to Crocker Park in Westlake for their 5th Annual Block Party this Sunday, June 8 from 11 AM to 3 PM. It’s about a 45-minute drive from Hudson, but with food trucks, police dogs, chalk zones, and live music, we’d say it’s worth the gas.
This free event is all about family fun—with safety demos, face painting, balloon animals, and a “Touch-a-Truck” zone where kids can climb into real emergency vehicles. You’ll also find giveaways from local vendors, character meet-and-greets (yes, even the Cleveland Ghostbusters), and enough food truck options to please the pickiest eaters.
Want to start the day early? Sign up for the Crocker Bark 5K or 1-Mile Walk at 9:30 AM. Leashed pups are welcome, and part of the proceeds benefit the Westlake K9 Unit.
🚗 It’s a bit of a drive, but it’s shaping up to be a Sunday well spent. More info here.
🏆 Roll Hud Recap
🥍 Girls Lacrosse: What a Run
The Lady Explorers wrapped up an incredible season Tuesday night with a hard-fought 12–8 loss to Olentangy Liberty in the Division I state semifinal. The game took place at Ashland University and marked the end of a truly dominant run.
Hudson finished the year 21–1, outscoring opponents by more than 230 goals and going undefeated through the regular season. Even in their final matchup, the team showed grit, heart, and that never-quit energy we’ve come to expect.
It’s not the ending they hoped for, but it’s a season the whole town can be proud of. Huge congratulations to the players, coaches, and families who made it such a special year.
⚾ Explorer Baseball Wraps Up a Gritty Season
Wednesday night’s regional semifinal was a heartbreaker. Hudson held a 1–0 lead all the way into the bottom of the seventh against Clay High School, thanks to a lights-out performance by senior Luke Mager, who took a no-hitter deep into the final inning.
But with two outs and everything on the line, Clay rallied for two runs—ending the game, and Hudson’s playoff run, with a walk-off win.
Final score: Clay 2, Hudson 1.
It was a tough way to go out, but this team had a season to remember. The Explorers finish with a 20–6 record, backed by standout pitching, resilience, and plenty of moments that got the crowd on their feet.
Thanks for the ride, boys—you made Hudson proud!
🎽 Go Get 'Em, Explorers!
This weekend, a crew of Hudson’s finest student-athletes will be lacing up for the OHSAA State Track & Field Championships in Columbus — and we couldn’t be prouder.
They’ve sprinted, hurdled, and high-jumped their way through regionals, and now it’s time to bring that Explorer grit to Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. From shot put to relays, it’s not just about medals — it’s about heart, hustle, and representing Hudson with class.
If you see one of our athletes around town, give ’em a high five and a “Go Explorers!” They’ve earned it.
💙 Good luck, team — we’re all cheering for you!
