☀️ The Scoop on Hudson Weather
This week’s forecast has a little bit of everything — a cloudy start, midweek storms, and some solid sunshine by the weekend. It’s shaping up to be classic June in Ohio: unpredictable, but mostly pleasant.
Keep an umbrella nearby, but don’t be surprised if you end up needing sunscreen more often than a raincoat.
- 🌥️ Today (Monday, 6/16) – 80°/64°: Cloudy in the morning, sunshine in the afternoon. (Great day to get stuff done — or at least pretend to.)
- ⛈️ Tuesday (6/17) – 81°/66°: Thunderstorms possible in the evening. (Looks like Mother Nature’s scheduling her drama after dinner.)
- 🌦️ Wednesday (6/18) – 82°/68°: Scattered storms throughout the day. (One of those days where the forecast says “maybe” and means “probably.”)
- 🌦️ Thursday (6/19) – 77°/63°: Still stormy. (You already know the drill — umbrella in one hand, iced coffee in the other.)
- 🌞 Friday (6/20) – 81°/62°: Mostly sunny and warm. (Finally, a patio-worthy day.)
- ⛈️ Saturday (6/21) – 78°/63°: Storms may roll in late. (Just enough time to mow the lawn or sneak in a morning market run.)
- 🌤️ Sunday (6/22) – 79°/62°: Partly cloudy and calm. (A solid excuse for one more grilled meal before Monday shows up again.)
Hang tight through the thunderstorms — there’s some sunshine waiting on the other side.

📰 Fresh Off the Clocktower
⭐ Honoring Juneteenth – A Moment in American History
Coming up on Thursday, June 19, the U.S. observes Juneteenth National Independence Day — a federal holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.
So, why June 19? On that day in 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the freedom of enslaved people — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It marked the final chapter in one of the most painful stories in American history, and Juneteenth became a symbol of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.
Though it had been celebrated for generations in Black communities, Juneteenth only became a federal holiday in 2021 — thanks in large part to the tireless efforts of Opal Lee, a retired teacher and activist from Texas who walked thousands of miles in her 80s to rally national support. She's often called the “Grandmother of Juneteenth,” and honestly, we think she’s earned it.
Since it’s a federal holiday, you can expect closures across the board — no mail delivery, banks will be closed, and most government offices will be offline for the day.
At its core, Juneteenth is a day to reflect — on how far we’ve come, and how far we still have to go. It’s also a chance to learn, listen, and honor the legacy of those who never gave up on freedom.
🪦 Loboda Monuments: A Meaningful New Addition to Downtown Hudson
There’s a new business on Ravenna Street, and while it may not be as flashy as a café or boutique, it’s one of the most heartfelt additions to town. Loboda Monuments, owned by Hudson locals Mark and Lauren Loboda, is now open at 30 Ravenna Street—bringing a personal, compassionate approach to memorial design right to the heart of our community.
Although they officially launched last year, the Lobodas recently celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon-cutting on June 4, officially welcoming friends, neighbors, and city leaders into their new space.
Mark, a Hudson police officer, and Lauren offer more than just monuments—they walk families through every step of the process, helping create lasting tributes that feel thoughtful and personal. They also run Cashmir Designs, a design branch that includes benches, vases, and columbaria, offering families more ways to honor their loved ones.
This is about storytelling through stone, and it’s one more way Hudson businesses are making a lasting difference.

🎬 Now Playing: How to Train Your Dragon
The magic's back—just a little bigger this time.
The live-action How to Train Your Dragon is now in theaters, and we caught it at the Regal in Hudson over the weekend. Short version? We loved it.
The flying scenes are jaw-dropping, the dragons feel real enough to reach out and pet (we wouldn’t recommend it), and the emotional core of the story still hits hard. Hiccup and Toothless are just as lovable as ever, and the new cast brings a grounded energy that works surprisingly well with all the high-flying adventure.
It’s the kind of movie that makes you want to rewatch the original, then immediately go back for round two.

🧐 Did You Know?
A single grain of sand—yep, just one—contains more atoms than there are grains of sand on every beach and desert on Earth combined.
Mind. Blown.
Stay curious, Hudson!

With a genre-defying score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and Broadway, Hamilton tells the powerful story of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton—his rise, ambition, love, and the legacy he helped shape. It’s bold, brilliant, and every bit as revolutionary as the story it tells.
The production has racked up 11 Tony Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, a Grammy, and a fiercely loyal fanbase for good reason. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s masterpiece has reshaped American theater—and now’s your chance to see it live just up the road.
