☀️ The Scoop on Hudson Weather

Hope you’re ready for a weather rollercoaster — we’ve got a little bit of everything heading into July. From scattered storms to sunshine worthy of a backyard BBQ, Hudson's sky is keeping things interesting. Temps will stay mostly in the 80s, so it’ll still feel like summer even when the clouds roll in.

Here’s what to expect this week:

  • ⛈️ Today (Friday, June 27) – 89°/71° – PM thunderstorms moving in with warm, muggy air (Your umbrella called — it misses you)
  • Saturday, June 28 – 82°/63° – Partly cloudy with a drop in temps (A great day for yard games or patio time)
  • Sunday, June 29 – 87°/69° – More clouds but mostly dry (Sunscreen and iced tea — a solid combo)
  • 🌦️ Monday, June 30 – 84°/68° – Scattered thunderstorms possible (Could be hit-or-miss, but don’t chance it in flip-flops)
  • 🌧️ Tuesday, July 1 – 80°/64° – Morning showers then clearing (Coffee tastes better when it’s raining anyway)
  • ☀️ Wednesday, July 2 – 81°/62° – Sunny and breezy (Peak summer vibes — go soak it in)
  • 🌤️ Thursday, July 3 – 80°/61° – Mostly sunny and mild (Mother Nature’s pre-party for the 4th)
  • Friday, July 4 – 84°/66° – Partly cloudy with a chance of awesome (Fingers crossed it stays dry for fireworks!)

It’s shaping up to be a pretty classic start to July — just keep your weather app close and your picnic blanket closer.

📰 Fresh Off the Clocktower

🌌 Look Up Tonight: The June Bootids Might Surprise You

We’re in the sweet spot of the June Bootid meteor shower, and tonight could bring a few streaks of magic across the sky. This low-key shower isn’t usually the flashiest—some years it barely registers—but every now and then, it pulls off an impressive show. Case in point: a surprise burst in 1998 brought more than 50 meteors an hour.

The Bootids come from comet 7P/Pons–Winnecke and are known for their slow, graceful pace. They tend to drift in from the constellation Bootes, which will be high in the northern sky after dark.

The best part? The moon isn’t photobombing the scene this year, so skies should be nice and dark.

If you’re up for some quiet stargazing tonight, head somewhere dark, give your eyes about 20 minutes to adjust, and just enjoy the stillness. You might catch one. You might catch ten. Either way, it’s the kind of simple summer moment we love.

Bonus: perfect excuse to stay up past your bedtime.

🎓 Step Up for Hudson: Leadership Hudson Applications Now Open

Ready to make an impact in Hudson? The Leadership Hudson Class of 2026 is now accepting applications—and it’s your chance to step into a bigger role in the community.

This nine-month program kicks off in September 2025 and runs through May 2026, with monthly Friday sessions and a hands-on class service project. You’ll get to team up with other locals, learn directly from city and business leaders, and develop skills that make a real difference right here at home.

The two-day kickoff retreat is set for September 12–13, and attendance is required to get the full team-building experience.

Tuition is $850, with a $200 deposit due on day one. Partial tuition help is available if you're self-paid—just ask.

The deadline to apply is July 15, and spots go fast.
Apply and get all the details here: leadershiphudson.com/apply/

Hudson needs people like you. Let’s lead the way.

💤 Too Hot to Sleep? These Cooling Pillows Might Just Save Your Summer

It’s been hot enough lately to cook breakfast on the sidewalk, and if your pillow is holding heat like a sponge, you’re not imagining things. Traditional pillows can trap warmth, mess with your sleep cycle, and leave you feeling groggy (and sweaty) by morning. So if you’re tossing, turning, and flipping your pillow like a short-order cook, it might be time to level up to a cooling, temperature-regulating pillow.

Here are three that keep their cool—and yours:

🌙 Coop Sleep Goods Eden Cool+ Crescent Pillow

👉 Check it out here

This pillow is like the Rolls Royce of bedtime comfort. It features “plus-shaped” gel-infused memory foam and a cool-to-the-touch cover that genuinely feels chilled the moment your cheek hits it. The unique crescent shape gives your neck and shoulders more support, especially if you're a side or combo sleeper. And bonus—you can adjust the fill to get it just right.

Cool factor: 10/10. This one actually stays cold all night, and it’s got rave reviews from hot sleepers and sweaty spouses alike.

🍃 Sijo FluffBase Eucalyptus Pillow

👉 Get it here

Made with sustainable eucalyptus fibers and filled with silky, down-alternative fluff, this pillow feels lightweight, breathable, and luxe. It’s OEKO-TEX certified and has a moisture-wicking cover that works quietly in the background to keep things dry and cool.

This one’s a great pick if you like a softer, plush feel—but don’t want to wake up in a puddle. Think hotel pillow… but smarter and way more eco-friendly.

Vibe check: Soft, breathable, and refreshingly cool—like sleeping on a eucalyptus cloud.

❄️ Slumber Cloud UltraCool Pillow

👉 Shop it here

The science-y one of the bunch. This pillow uses NASA-approved Outlast® technology (yes, really) to absorb and release heat so you stay in the Goldilocks zone all night. It's not as instantly cold to the touch as some others—but it’s consistent and dependable. Great for people who sleep warm but don’t want to wake up freezing either.

Best for: Balanced sleepers who want temperature regulation without the ice-pack sensation.

P.S. These are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase—at no extra cost to you. It helps keep the Scoop running and the pillow talk flowing. 😴

🧐 Did You Know?

Ketchup was once sold as medicine. Yep, back in 1834, this burger buddy was actually prescribed to treat indigestion. A doctor in Ohio believed tomatoes had powerful healing properties—and turned them into ketchup pills.

So next time someone gives you grief for putting ketchup on everything, just tell them you’re self-medicating. Self-care, 1800s style.

Stay curious, Hudson!

🏆 Roll Hud Recap

⚾ Guardians vs. Cardinals at Progressive Field

If you're looking for some live sports energy this weekend, the Cleveland Guardians are hosting the St. Louis Cardinals for a three-game series at Progressive Field—and it's shaping up to be a fun one.

🗓️ Game Times:
- Friday, June 27 – 7:10 PM
- Saturday, June 28 – 4:10 PM
- Sunday, June 29 – 12:05 PM

Great matchups, weekend weather, and all the stadium snacks you’ve been thinking about since April. It’s a classic summer combo: baseball and ballpark vibes.

Grab your Guardians gear and head downtown—first pitch is right around the corner.

🏀 Cavs Sit Out Round 1, Add Two in Round 2 of NBA Draft

If you were watching the first round of the NBA Draft and wondering when the Cavs would make their move—surprise! They didn’t have a pick. That’s because their 2025 first-rounder was part of the 2022 trade package that brought Donovan Mitchell to Cleveland. A worthy tradeoff, but it meant the Cavs had to wait until the second round to get in on the action.

Here’s who they "Scooped" up:

  • Tyrese Proctor (49th overall) – A 6'6" guard out of Duke, known for his smooth shooting stroke and solid court vision. He shot over 40% from beyond the arc last season and brings size and versatility to the backcourt.
  • Saliou Niang (58th overall) – A 6'7" forward from Senegal with raw talent and long-term potential. He’s expected to spend more time developing before making a splash in the NBA, but scouts love his upside.

So no big headlines this draft, but some interesting pieces for the Cavs’ bench depth and future roster. Consider it the quiet part of the rebuild.
