☀️ The Scoop on Hudson Weather
We’re starting the week with that perfect porch-sitting weather and ending with a few thunder-powered surprises. Temps are climbing day by day, so if you’ve got yard work, errands, or patio dinners planned—earlier in the week is your sweet spot.
- ⛅ Today (Monday, July 21) – 78°/53°: Partly cloudy with a crisp breeze. (Like fall showed up in July for a quick guest appearance.)
- ☀️ Tuesday (July 22) – 80°/58°: Sunny skies and perfect highs. (Great day for a cold brew on the deck—or a walk through First & Main.)
- 🌤️ Wednesday (July 23) – 89°/68°: Hot and a little humid, but still pleasant. (Vanilla ice cream suddenly becomes a necessity.)
- 🌞 Thursday (July 24) – 92°/73°: Mostly sunny and fully sizzling. (This is your annual reminder to hydrate and seek shade. Popsicles count.)
- ⛈️ Friday (July 25) – 85°/69°: Thunderstorms likely. (Might want to move that dinner reservation indoors.)
- 🌦️ Saturday (July 26) – 81°/69°: On-and-off showers with muggy vibes. (Perfect excuse to stay inside and finish that book—or catch a movie.)
- ⛈️ Sunday (July 27) – 85°/68°: Scattered storms with scattered sunshine. (Umbrella optional, patience required.)
Mild, muggy, then maybe a monsoon - soak up the sunshine while you can, Hudson!

📰 Fresh Off the Clocktower
🍩 Sweet (and Salty) Celebrations This Week
Sunday was National Ice Cream Day—and if it slid by without a scoop in your hand, you’re not alone. But don’t worry, Hudson. This week has plenty of snack-worthy reasons to make up for it.
Today is National Junk Food Day, which means it’s open season on chips, candy, drive-thru fries, and whatever’s hiding behind the “healthy snacks” in your pantry. If it crinkles, crunches, melts, or leaves your fingers suspiciously orange—go for it. You’ve got a full day to eat like you just got home from a school field trip.
And coming up on Wednesday? National Vanilla Ice Cream Day. A perfect midweek moment to catch that scoop you missed on Sunday—and yes, vanilla can absolutely hold its own:
- Cold Stone: Vanilla is your canvas. Toss in cookie dough, peanut butter cups, brownies, caramel swirls—you name it, they’ll mix it in like edible confetti.
- Lola’s: Tahitian Vanilla is just the beginning. Load it up with fruit, boba, crushed cookies, or whatever you can balance in a cup before gravity takes over.
- Hershey’s: Keeps it classic with scoopable vanilla that’s begging for hot fudge, sprinkles, whipped cream, and maybe a cherry on top if you’re feeling nostalgic.
So loosen the belt. Forget the calorie count. This week is practically begging you to treat yourself—and in a town with this many good options, who are we to argue?
🍻 Prost, Hudson! Mark Your Calendars - The Biergarten Is Back
Sunday may have been National Ice Cream Day, but we’ve got something even cooler brewing for August: the return of the Hudson Biergarten!
This will be the 5th annual celebration, and it’s shaping up to be the biggest one yet:
Friday, August 8:5:00–10:00 PM
Saturday, August 9:12:00–10:00 PM
Here’s what’s on tap:
- 🍺 Beer from Green Valley Brewing and HiHO Brewing Co. – They’re back with six taps, including a classic Landsberger Helles lager and a new raspberry seltzer.
- 🥨 Food – Warm pretzels, hot dogs and bratwurst from the Rotary Club, or bring your own picnic. You can also grab takeout from any of the restaurants around First & Main and enjoy it right at the Biergarten.
- 🎶 Live Entertainment –
- Friday:NorthCoast Mix plays from 5:30 to 9:30 PM with polka and party favorites.
- Saturday:The Great Lakes National Puppet Theater performs Grimm Fairy Tales at 1:00 and 2:30 PM, followed by the Akron Beer Choir leading a community singalong at 5:00 PM.
- 🎯 Family Fun – Cornhole, giant Connect Four, and an open invite to wear your finest dirndl or lederhosen. Pets are welcome too—bonus points if they dress up.
Also happening that week: The Landsberg Crusaders Youth Baseball Team will be in town for a cultural exchange with Hudson players. Come cheer them on at two friendly games:
- Monday, August 11 at 7:00 PM – First pitch by Mayor Anzevino
- Wednesday, August 13 at 4:00 PM – Featuring BBQ from The Pink Piggy food truck
Both games will be held at the Hudson High School baseball field.
The Biergarten supports the Hudson-Landsberg Sister City group’s amazing work—this year alone, they awarded $29,000 in scholarships and grants, sent a Hudson student to Germany, and are hosting two German students this fall. The funds help support language learning, student exchanges, and international friendships that last a lifetime.
Want to get involved? There are still volunteer opportunities available—details are here.
So grab a stein, gather your crew, and raise a glass. The Biergarten is just around the proverbial corner, and Hudson’s about to feel a whole lot more Bavarian.
🧐 Did You Know?
Google’s AI can now make actual phone calls for you—like, real conversations with real humans.
Through its upgraded Gemini AI, Google’s Duplex assistant can call businesses (think dry cleaners, restaurants, repair shops), handle the request, and then text or email you the results. No more being put on hold just to ask if they’re open on Tuesdays.
It even starts the call by politely identifying itself as AI—no surprises, no weird robots pretending to be people. And if you’re on one of the premium Google plans, you get even more call minutes every month.
So next time you need to make a call… maybe let your phone do the talking. Literally.
Stay curious, Hudson!
📅 The Scoop To-Do List
🎨 Tie-Dye Fun at the Library (Ages 11+)
It’s not too late to jump in! If you’re free this (Monday) afternoon and looking for something colorful (and just a little messy) to do, there’s still time to snag a spot in the Color Our World Tie-Dye session at the Hudson Library.
It starts today at 2:00 p.m. and is open to ages 11 and up. Just bring your own white shirt or bandana—everything else (dye, gloves, bags, rubber bands) will be provided. Want a particular look like a spiral or stripes? You can even pre-rubber band it at home.
This one’s all about creativity, color, and a little chaos—so definitely dress for a mess. 🌀
Register now before it fills up
🎻 Callisto Quartet & Friends Concert at the Library
If you’re looking for an evening that hits all the right notes—literally—don’t miss this special performance from the internationally acclaimed Callisto Quartet and some incredibly talented young musicians from the Hudson Montessori Conservatory of Music.
The concert is happening Thursday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hudson Library & Historical Society. These students have spent the week in a rigorous Chamber Music Intensive program—studying, rehearsing, and learning directly from the pros—and this concert is their grand finale.
Expect a beautiful mix of chamber music, a variety of composers, and a lineup that blends experience with rising talent. The performance is free, but registration is required.
Reserve your spot here.
You’ll walk out feeling like you just attended a concert in Vienna—without ever leaving Hudson.
🌽 Old Brooklyn Farmers Market Returns for the Season
Looking for a summer weeknight that’s packed with local flavor, live music, and a cold beer in hand? Say hello to the Old Brooklyn Farmers Market, running every Thursday from July 24 to September 25, from 5:00–8:00 PM.
Hosted by the Old Brooklyn Community Development Corporation, this market is way more than just veggies. You’ll find a great mix of new and returning vendors serving up everything from fresh produce and pantry staples to baked goods, dinner-ready food truck meals, and even a beer garden (courtesy of Schnitz Ale Brewery 🍻).

- 🎶 Live music
- 🎨 Interactive art
- 🍳 Cooking demos
- 🧺 Family activities
Admission is free, the vibe is laid-back, and there’s something for everyone—kids, foodies, casual browsers, and folks who just want to support something local and good.

🎳 Fur, Fun & Ferret Bowling — This Saturday in Macedonia
We know Scoop readers have a soft spot for quirky events and good causes, and this weekend checks both boxes. It’s time for Ferret Bowl 2025, the annual bowling fundraiser supporting Ferrets Unlimited Rescue Services.
🗓️ Saturday, July 26
🕐 1:00 – 4:00 PM
📍 North Woods Lanes – 10435 Valley View Rd, Macedonia
Here’s what’s rolling:
- Unlimited bowling for the full three hours (shoes included, obviously).
- Snacks, soft drinks, and even vegan-friendly treats to keep you fueled.
- A portion of your lane-fee helps ferrets in need across Northeast Ohio.
- A chance to spend a Saturday afternoon doing something awesome.
And yes—there are still spots open. But they usually go fast, so we’re letting you know now. If you’re free Saturday, grab your tickets right here.
Want more on the rescue behind it all? Ferrets Unlimited is a local nonprofit that gives second chances to surrendered or abandoned ferrets. You can learn more about their work at ferretsunlimited.org.
Let’s help them strike gold—for the fuzzballs.
🏈 Football & Nickelback in One Weekend? Let’s Go.
Big weekend coming up down in Canton—and tickets are moving fast, so we wanted to make sure our readers didn’t miss out.
First up: the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, August 1, featuring the Chicago Bears vs. Houston Texans under the lights at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. It’s the official kickoff to the NFL preseason and the start of Enshrinement Week celebrations. Tailgating, big plays, and a packed stadium guaranteed.
Then just a few days later, on Sunday, August 3, the same stadium hosts the Concert for Legends featuring—wait for it—Nickelback. That’s right. The band behind “Photograph,” “Rockstar,” and every early 2000s karaoke night is headlining a full-scale show with opener Mitchell Tenpenny. Music starts at 7:30 PM, and if you’re going for full nostalgia mode, this is your moment.
🎟️ Tickets for both events are selling fast. If you’re thinking about going, now’s the time to make moves. You can grab concert tickets right here.
This is the kind of weekend that combines stadium lights, live music, and enough energy to power all of northeast Ohio.Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
🎡 Fair Season Alert: Four to Tour
Fair season is officially in full swing, and if you’ve been waiting for a reason to chase fried food with live music and the occasional demolition derby... your moment has arrived. Four big ones are headed our way, and each one brings its own kind of magic:
🌟 Ohio State Fair (Columbus)
📅 July 23 – August 3
The big one. Expect kangaroo petting, pig races, axe throwing, and a 200-foot slingshot ride — because Ohio doesn’t do “mild.” New foods this year include Dubai chocolate funnel cakes and buckeye lemonade. And the concert lineup? T‑Pain, Foreigner, Morris Day & The Time, and more.
🎟️ Tickets: Start at $8 online.
👉 ohiostatefair.com
🎠 Lake County Fair (Painesville)
📅 July 22 – 27
A classic county fair with an edge. Monster trucks, motocross, bull riding, and demolition derbies — all wrapped up with carnival rides and animals that may or may not be judging your funnel cake-to-corn dog ratio.
🌾 Medina County Fair (Medina)
📅 July 28 – August 3
This one has a little something for everyone: bull riding, truck pulls, sea lions, and a “Whiz Bang Science Show” for the kiddos. Catch live music from Cooper Alan and Styles Haury, and watch the Outback Ray animal show if you're into snakes and surprise squeals.
🏞️ Summit County Fair (Tallmadge)
📅 July 22 – 27
This local favorite has all the essentials—rides, baby contests, tractor displays, livestock auctions, and evening concerts—running daily from noon to 11 PM (9 PM on Sunday). Bonus points for the pony pull and a princess race.
💡 Scoop Tip: Time it right, and you can fair-hop across northeast Ohio and collect enough stories (and fried food regrets) to last till pumpkin patch season.
🌞 Last-Minute Summer Getaways Before Fall Kicks In
We know the calendar’s already looking dangerously full with fall sports and school supply runs. But summer’s still got a little gas in the tank — and now’s your moment to sneak in a day trip, weekend escape, or a full-on family recharge before life gets serious again. Here are some of our favorite easy-to-reach getaways with just enough wow to feel like a vacation.
🎢 Cedar Point — Sandusky
Still the roller coaster capital of the world. It’s home to Top Thrill 2, Millennium Force, and the brand-new Siren’s Revenge. But you don’t need to be a thrill junkie — there’s a beach, shows, and plenty of family fun, too.
🚤 Put-in-Bay — Lake Erie Islands
Hop the ferry and you’re in a whole new world: caves, wineries, golf carts, water views, and breezy bars with live music. It’s part day trip, part mini island vacation — and just the kind of reset August calls for.
🎠 Knoebels Amusement Resort — Elysburg, PA
A 4-hour road trip gets you to the country’s largest free-admission amusement park. Yup — free parking, free entry, and tons of pay-as-you-go rides, including old-school wooden coasters and a hand-carved carousel. Bring a picnic or grab some fair-style eats, and stay the night at their campground if you want to stretch it out.
🌅 Geneva-on-the-Lake — Lake Erie
This lakeside strip is pure Ohio nostalgia: arcades, mini golf, beach bars, fishing, live music, and stunning lake sunsets. An easy, breezy day trip with a little bit of everything.
💦 Kalahari or Great Wolf Lodge — Sandusky
If waterparks are your family’s love language, this one’s a no-brainer. Kalahari’s massive indoor/outdoor complex has thrill slides, lazy rivers, a spa, and big resort energy. Great Wolf Lodge keeps things cozy with themed rooms, kid-focused fun, and plenty of splash time.

🌲 Hocking Hills — Southeastern Ohio
Caves, waterfalls, cliffs, and hiking trails that’ll make your phone photos look like postcards. You can hike, zipline, kayak, or just rent a cabin and sit on the porch with a mug of coffee (or wine). It’s the ultimate unplug-and-reset destination.
Scoop Tip: If you’ve been telling yourself all summer you’ll “get away soon,” now’s your moment. Gas up, pick your favorite, and go make a memory before fall takes over.
