āļø The Scoop on Hudson Weather
This weekās forecast is like Ohioās version of a sampler platter ā a little cloud, a little thunder, a bit of sunshine, and just enough humidity to make your iced coffee earn its keep. Temps flirt with the upper 80s early on, then we cool off just in time for August to roll in feeling like September. Letās break it down:
- āļø Today (Friday, July 25) ā 83°/68°: Cloudy skies with a light breeze. (Basically, the skyās wearing a gray hoodie and just vibing.)
- āļø Saturday, July 26 ā 85°/71°: Morning thunderstorms likely, then drying out later. (Good excuse to sleep in and let the storm handle the watering.)
- š¤ļø Sunday, July 27 ā 85°/68°: Partly cloudy and warm. (Great day for a walk, a bike ride, or pretending to do yard work while reading on the porch.)
- š¤ļø Monday, July 28 ā 90°/71°: Hot and partly cloudy. (The ādonāt forget sunscreenā kind of day.)
- š¤ļø Tuesday, July 29 ā 85°/66°: Still warm, but with a slight cool-down breeze. (Windows open in the morning? Yes please.)
- š¦ļø Wednesday, July 30 ā 81°/61°: A few showers early, then clearing. (Just enough rain to make your car look like you meant to wash it.)
- š¤ļø Thursday, July 31 ā 74°/56°: Crisp, cool, and partly cloudy. (Start thinking about flannel... but just thinking.)
- āļø Friday, August 1 ā 75°/55°: Mostly sunny and mild. (This is the summer weather people write poems about.)
So yes ā weāve got a little bit of everything, but the back half of the week is looking dreamy. Plan accordingly (and maybe save that outdoor brunch for Friday).
Letās get your business buzzing in Hudson.

Pet of the Week: Cooper!
š¾ Scoop of the Litter: Meet Cooper
Look at that face. That tongue. That joy. Hudson, allow us to introduce Cooperāa long-legged goofball with the energy of a tennis ball factory and the heart of a snuggly golden retriever in training.
Cooper is about a year old and still very much in his puppy phase. Think: enthusiastic zoomies, bouncy greetings, and a strong opinion on the importance of playtime. Heās around 60 pounds, all legs and love, with a copper-colored coat, white-dipped paws, and a tongue that seems to have its own personality.
Heās obsessed with tennis ballsāthough fetch is still a mystery. Throw it? Absolutely. Chase it? You bet. Bring it back? Thatās negotiable.
Cooper came to One of A Kind Pet Rescue after being pulled from an overcrowded shelter, and now heās looking for a home thatāll match his zest for life. Heād thrive with a family whoās up for some basic training and has room in their hearts (and backyard) for a high-spirited best friend.
Want to meet the dog that basically radiates happiness?
Visit Cooper at One of A Kind Pet Rescue, 1929 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313.
Heāll be the one smiling at you before you even reach the door.
š° Fresh Off the Clocktower
š·š§ Happy National Wine & Cheese Day, Hudson!
If you needed a reason to upgrade your snack game today, here it is: Today (July 25) is officially National Wine & Cheese Day, and Hudson is fully equipped to help you celebrate like a champ.
Start with a stop at Lager & Vineāour local go-to for great wine, tasty bites, and a laid-back vibe. Their wine list is ready to impress, and if youāre more of a hops person, theyāve got craft beer too (itās all about balance).
And if you really want to elevate your spread, let Lady Meaās Charcuterie Company do the honors. Her boards are as gorgeous as they are deliciousāloaded with artisan cheeses, fresh fruit, cured meats, and just the right amount of fancy. She even offers a mobile charcuterie cart for events... but hey, you celebrating Wine & Cheese Day in your backyard totally counts.
So grab a bottle, slice up something tasty, and toast to the finer things in lifeāHudson-style. You earned this.
šļø Fresh from City Hall: Pickleball, Playgrounds, and Joannās Future
Council met this week, and while not every minute was riveting, a few updates caught our attentionāand should be on your radar too:
š Pickleball Court Lighting Is Happening
The long-awaited lights for the courts are officially going out to bid. That means evening games under the lights are one step closer. Bids are due August 18, and the projectās back on track after a few minor delays.
š Hudson Inclusive Playground Update
The Hudson Inclusive Playground project is still moving forward behind the scenes. Design work is underway, and council expects to review the final plans in September before putting the project out to bid. A big step toward bringing this long-planned space to life.
š¬ Whatās Next for Joann Fabrics?
A special subcommittee has been working behind the scenes to reimagine the Joann Fabrics property on South Darrow. Theyāve drafted a new zoning category (D11) to better guide future developmentāand if all goes well, it could hit council by January. Think thoughtful redevelopment, not cookie-cutter strip malls.
š Charter Amendments Headed to the Ballot
Hudsonās Charter Review Commission wrapped up months of meetings and proposed eight updates to the city charter. Some of the biggest ones include:
- New term limits for elected officials
- A revamped Park & Natural Resource Board that combines multiple existing boards
- New rules that say any group requesting a city-backed tax levy (like the library) must have leadership elected by or accountable to Hudson voters
Council plans to send all eight proposals to the November ballot. Voters will get to decide on each one individuallyāso if you like some but not others, youāll have options.
More lighting, more play, smarter development, and a stronger charter? Weāll take it.
š Beetlejuice Is Headed to Clevelandāand Itās Gonna Be Loud
Big hair. Big voices. Even bigger chaos.
Beetlejuice the Musical is landing at Playhouse Square from August 12ā17, and if youāre even slightly thinking about going, grab those tickets soonāthis oneās going to sell out fast.
Itās based on the cult-classic Tim Burton film, but this version cranks the energy up about ten notches. Expect snappy one-liners, over-the-top set pieces, and just the right mix of weird, heartfelt, and hilarious.
šļø Snag your seats now through the Playhouse Square box office.
Perfect for date night, girlsā night, or anyone whoās ever wanted to yell āItās showtime!ā in public.
š³ Your Voice, Your Parks: Take the Hudson Parks Survey
Got thoughts on our local parks? Nowās the time to speak up.
The Hudson Park Board is looking for honest feedback from residents to help guide future park improvements. From trails and playgrounds to green space and amenities, they want to hear whatās workingāand whatās not.
The survey is quick, easy, and open through August 15.

š Want to Make a Real Difference? Hudsonās EMT Course Is Now Enrolling

š
Deadline to register:
Tuesday, August 5. Thatās your cutoff.
𩺠What makes this different?
You wonāt just sit through PowerPoints. Students actually go out on calls with real EMS crewsāgetting hands-on experience assessing patients, communicating with ER doctors, and learning how to act quickly when it counts.

š§ Did You Know?
Need chilled wine in a pinch? You donāt need a fancy bucketājust science and some table salt.
Fill a container with ice water, add a few tablespoons of salt, and submerge your bottle. The salt lowers the freezing point of the water, which helps the wine chill fasterālike, 5 to 15 minutes fast.
For an extra speed boost, gently spin the bottle every few minutes to keep the cold circulating. Itās the kind of trick that makes you look effortlessly impressive at parties.
Perfect for Wine & Cheese Day⦠or honestly, any Friday.
Stay curious, Hudson!

š Donāt Sleep on Kimberly Akimbo
Weāve mentioned this gem before, but itās worth a second (and third) shoutoutābecause if you havenāt grabbed tickets yet, youāre missing one of the most celebrated shows on stage right now.
Kimberly Akimbo isnāt your typical musical. Itās got a Tony Award-winning book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire (Shrek), a Tony Award-winning score by Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home), choreography from Dear Evan Hansenās Danny Mefford, and direction by Jessica Stone, who snagged a Tony nomination herself. Basically, itās a Broadway dream team.
