☀️ The Scoop on Hudson Weather
This week’s forecast is like Ohio’s version of a sampler platter — a little cloud, a little thunder, a bit of sunshine, and just enough humidity to make your iced coffee earn its keep. Temps flirt with the upper 80s early on, then we cool off just in time for August to roll in feeling like September. Let’s break it down:
- ☁️ Today (Friday, July 25) – 83°/68°: Cloudy skies with a light breeze. (Basically, the sky’s wearing a gray hoodie and just vibing.)
- ⛈️ Saturday, July 26 – 85°/71°: Morning thunderstorms likely, then drying out later. (Good excuse to sleep in and let the storm handle the watering.)
- 🌤️ Sunday, July 27 – 85°/68°: Partly cloudy and warm. (Great day for a walk, a bike ride, or pretending to do yard work while reading on the porch.)
- 🌤️ Monday, July 28 – 90°/71°: Hot and partly cloudy. (The “don’t forget sunscreen” kind of day.)
- 🌤️ Tuesday, July 29 – 85°/66°: Still warm, but with a slight cool-down breeze. (Windows open in the morning? Yes please.)
- 🌦️ Wednesday, July 30 – 81°/61°: A few showers early, then clearing. (Just enough rain to make your car look like you meant to wash it.)
- 🌤️ Thursday, July 31 – 74°/56°: Crisp, cool, and partly cloudy. (Start thinking about flannel... but just thinking.)
- ☀️ Friday, August 1 – 75°/55°: Mostly sunny and mild. (This is the summer weather people write poems about.)
So yes — we’ve got a little bit of everything, but the back half of the week is looking dreamy. Plan accordingly (and maybe save that outdoor brunch for Friday).
Let’s get your business buzzing in Hudson.
People in town read The Scoop because it keeps them in the know—and when they discover a local business through us, they pay attention. It’s not just exposure. It’s connection.
We’re always on the lookout for sponsors who love Hudson as much as we do. If that sounds like you, let’s team up.
Want details? Just email [email protected]. It’s easy, it’s local, and it works.

Pet of the Week: Cooper!
🐾 Scoop of the Litter: Meet Cooper
Look at that face. That tongue. That joy. Hudson, allow us to introduce Cooper—a long-legged goofball with the energy of a tennis ball factory and the heart of a snuggly golden retriever in training.
Cooper is about a year old and still very much in his puppy phase. Think: enthusiastic zoomies, bouncy greetings, and a strong opinion on the importance of playtime. He’s around 60 pounds, all legs and love, with a copper-colored coat, white-dipped paws, and a tongue that seems to have its own personality.
He’s obsessed with tennis balls—though fetch is still a mystery. Throw it? Absolutely. Chase it? You bet. Bring it back? That’s negotiable.
Cooper came to One of A Kind Pet Rescue after being pulled from an overcrowded shelter, and now he’s looking for a home that’ll match his zest for life. He’d thrive with a family who’s up for some basic training and has room in their hearts (and backyard) for a high-spirited best friend.
Want to meet the dog that basically radiates happiness?
Visit Cooper at One of A Kind Pet Rescue, 1929 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313.
He’ll be the one smiling at you before you even reach the door.
📰 Fresh Off the Clocktower
🍷🧀 Happy National Wine & Cheese Day, Hudson!
If you needed a reason to upgrade your snack game today, here it is: Today (July 25) is officially National Wine & Cheese Day, and Hudson is fully equipped to help you celebrate like a champ.
Start with a stop at Lager & Vine—our local go-to for great wine, tasty bites, and a laid-back vibe. Their wine list is ready to impress, and if you’re more of a hops person, they’ve got craft beer too (it’s all about balance).
And if you really want to elevate your spread, let Lady Mea’s Charcuterie Company do the honors. Her boards are as gorgeous as they are delicious—loaded with artisan cheeses, fresh fruit, cured meats, and just the right amount of fancy. She even offers a mobile charcuterie cart for events... but hey, you celebrating Wine & Cheese Day in your backyard totally counts.
So grab a bottle, slice up something tasty, and toast to the finer things in life—Hudson-style. You earned this.
🏛️ Fresh from City Hall: Pickleball, Playgrounds, and Joann’s Future
Council met this week, and while not every minute was riveting, a few updates caught our attention—and should be on your radar too:
🏓 Pickleball Court Lighting Is Happening
The long-awaited lights for the courts are officially going out to bid. That means evening games under the lights are one step closer. Bids are due August 18, and the project’s back on track after a few minor delays.
🎠 Hudson Inclusive Playground Update
The Hudson Inclusive Playground project is still moving forward behind the scenes. Design work is underway, and council expects to review the final plans in September before putting the project out to bid. A big step toward bringing this long-planned space to life.
🏬 What’s Next for Joann Fabrics?
A special subcommittee has been working behind the scenes to reimagine the Joann Fabrics property on South Darrow. They’ve drafted a new zoning category (D11) to better guide future development—and if all goes well, it could hit council by January. Think thoughtful redevelopment, not cookie-cutter strip malls.
📜 Charter Amendments Headed to the Ballot
Hudson’s Charter Review Commission wrapped up months of meetings and proposed eight updates to the city charter. Some of the biggest ones include:
- New term limits for elected officials
- A revamped Park & Natural Resource Board that combines multiple existing boards
- New rules that say any group requesting a city-backed tax levy (like the library) must have leadership elected by or accountable to Hudson voters
Council plans to send all eight proposals to the November ballot. Voters will get to decide on each one individually—so if you like some but not others, you’ll have options.
More lighting, more play, smarter development, and a stronger charter? We’ll take it.
🎭 Beetlejuice Is Headed to Cleveland—and It’s Gonna Be Loud
Big hair. Big voices. Even bigger chaos.
Beetlejuice the Musical is landing at Playhouse Square from August 12–17, and if you’re even slightly thinking about going, grab those tickets soon—this one’s going to sell out fast.
It’s based on the cult-classic Tim Burton film, but this version cranks the energy up about ten notches. Expect snappy one-liners, over-the-top set pieces, and just the right mix of weird, heartfelt, and hilarious.
🎟️ Snag your seats now through the Playhouse Square box office.
Perfect for date night, girls’ night, or anyone who’s ever wanted to yell “It’s showtime!” in public.
🌳 Your Voice, Your Parks: Take the Hudson Parks Survey
Got thoughts on our local parks? Now’s the time to speak up.
The Hudson Park Board is looking for honest feedback from residents to help guide future park improvements. From trails and playgrounds to green space and amenities, they want to hear what’s working—and what’s not.
The survey is quick, easy, and open through August 15.
For more info on park features and current projects, check out www.hudson.oh.us/Parks.
🚑 Want to Make a Real Difference? Hudson’s EMT Course Is Now Enrolling
If you’ve ever thought, “I could do that,” when you see a first responder in action—here’s your chance to actually do it.
Hudson EMS is now accepting sign-ups for its Fall 2025 EMT course, and it’s not just a solid program—it’s one of the best around.
Here’s what you need to know:
🗓️ Schedule:
Classes run from August 19 through December 11, meeting every Tuesday and Thursday evening (6–10 PM) and on select Saturdays (8 AM–4 PM) at the Hudson Safety Training Center on Oviatt Street.
💵 Cost:
The course is $1,200, and that includes everything—books, gear, and even your national test fee. No hidden add-ons.
📅 Deadline to register:
Tuesday, August 5. That’s your cutoff.
🩺 What makes this different?
You won’t just sit through PowerPoints. Students actually go out on calls with real EMS crews—getting hands-on experience assessing patients, communicating with ER doctors, and learning how to act quickly when it counts.
Hudson EMS responds to over 2,400 calls every year, most with volunteer help. This course gives you the training, experience, and confidence to be part of that.
Ready to learn more or claim your spot?
Head to hudsonems-school.employ.onshift.com or call 330-342-1854.
This is your moment—go for it.
🧐 Did You Know?
Need chilled wine in a pinch? You don’t need a fancy bucket—just science and some table salt.
Fill a container with ice water, add a few tablespoons of salt, and submerge your bottle. The salt lowers the freezing point of the water, which helps the wine chill faster—like, 5 to 15 minutes fast.
For an extra speed boost, gently spin the bottle every few minutes to keep the cold circulating. It’s the kind of trick that makes you look effortlessly impressive at parties.
Perfect for Wine & Cheese Day… or honestly, any Friday.
Stay curious, Hudson!

⚔️ The Great Lakes Medieval Faire Is Calling—And This Weekend, Pirates Are in Charge
Ready to swap your usual weekend routine for something a little more... legendary? The Great Lakes Medieval Faire is in full swing in Rock Creek, and the next two weekends are themed, wild, and worth the drive.
🏴☠️ This Weekend (July 26–27): Pirate Invasion
The forest is being taken over by pirates, and it’s every bit as fun as it sounds. Expect swashbuckling characters, treasure-hunting vibes, and a whole lot of “ARRR.”
Come hungry—this is prime turkey leg territory.
🧙♀️ Next Weekend (August 2–3): Out of Oz
Time to follow the yellow brick road (or a steampunk airship) into the land of Oz. Costumes inspired by the Emerald City and beyond are encouraged. Flying monkeys? Possible. Ruby slippers? Strongly approved. This weekend’s going to be popular—and we mean that in the full Broadway sense.
🎟️ The faire runs Saturdays & Sundays through August 17
🕚 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
📍 3033 State Route 534, Rock Creek, OH
More info: medievalfaire.com
With jousting, fire performers, fantasy vendors, and woodland mayhem, this one’s perfect for families, friend groups, or anyone who’s secretly always wanted to yell “HUZZAH!” in public.
🎨 Avenue of the Arts Returns This Saturday
Hudson’s getting extra colorful this weekend. Avenue of the Arts is back on Saturday, July 26, from 10 AM to 3 PM at the grounds of St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church (5107 Darrow Rd.).
This juried fine arts and crafts show features over 85 local artists and makers, showing off everything from pottery and textiles to photography, woodwork, and handmade gifts. Basically, if you can admire it, they probably have it.
You’ll also find food trucks like The Brunch Box, plus church tours for anyone curious. Proceeds support local arts and community programs.
Free to attend. Easy to stroll. And a perfect excuse to spend a little extra time soaking in Hudson’s creative side.
🚜 Touch-A-Truck is Back This Saturday!
Hudson’s favorite high-horsepower hangout returns this Saturday, July 26, from 11 AM to 1 PM, and it’s gonna be LOUD (in the best possible way).
Bring the crew out to 120 N. Hayden Parkway, between McDowell and East Woods, where kids can climb in, honk horns, flip switches, and check out all the big, shiny machines they usually only spot through a car window.
What’s rolling in?
You’ll see everything from a SWAT vehicle to a hot air balloon (yep, seriously). There’ll be a fire engine, trash truck, sensory bus, plows, semis, and more bucket trucks than you can count. Basically, if it’s got wheels or sirens, it’s probably pulling up.
Bonus points for snacks:
Chick-fil-A, The Dreamsicle, and Cleveland Cookie Dough Co. will be on-site keeping bellies happy.
🎈 Parking and restrooms? Covered.
Just plug 120 N. Hayden Parkway into your GPS and you’re golden.
Get the full scoop here: www.hudson.oh.us/TouchATruck
It’s big fun for little explorers — and honestly, for the grown-ups too.
🛍️ Peninsula Flea: Handmade, Repurposed, and Ready for You
Looking for an excuse to wander through a gorgeous old farm, coffee in hand, discovering the kind of treasures you can’t find at Target? The Peninsula Flea is calling.
This Saturday, July 26 from 10 AM to 4 PM, Heritage Farms transforms into a wonderland of vintage goods, handmade art, and creatively repurposed finds. We’re talking 70+ vendors, live music drifting through the trees, and food trucks ready to refuel your browsing energy.
Admission? Free.
Parking? Plenty.
Vibes? Immaculate.
It’s a “come rain or shine” kind of event, and each Flea is totally different—so even if you’ve been before, you’ll still leave with something new (and maybe a homemade candle or two).
📍 6050 Riverview Road, Peninsula

🎸 Summer Music Nights: Saturday’s Got a Beat You Can Dance To
This Saturday, July 26, the First & Main Green turns into Hudson’s own summer concert stage—complete with lawn chairs, good vibes, and the kind of live music that gets the whole family tapping their feet.
From 7:00 to 9:00 PM, Jump The Gun hits the stage as part of the Summer Music Nights series. Expect high-energy covers, a welcoming crowd, and the kind of Saturday night that makes Hudson feel like a small town in the best way.
It’s free, it’s outdoors, and it’s easy to join in. Just bring a blanket, grab something sweet from a nearby shop, and let the music do the rest.
🎭 Don’t Sleep on Kimberly Akimbo
We’ve mentioned this gem before, but it’s worth a second (and third) shoutout—because if you haven’t grabbed tickets yet, you’re missing one of the most celebrated shows on stage right now.
Kimberly Akimbo isn’t your typical musical. It’s got a Tony Award-winning book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire (Shrek), a Tony Award-winning score by Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home), choreography from Dear Evan Hansen’s Danny Mefford, and direction by Jessica Stone, who snagged a Tony nomination herself. Basically, it’s a Broadway dream team.
The story follows a hilariously awkward 16-year-old navigating life with a rare aging condition and an exceptionally weird family. It’s heartfelt, clever, and genuinely moving—the kind of show that sticks with you.
Performances run through August 3 at Connor Palace in Playhouse Square, and yes, tickets are still available.
Get them here before they disappear.
🎨 HUDSONmART Is Back This Sunday!
This Sunday, July 27, from 10 AM to 5 PM, the Downtown Hudson Greens will transform into a pop-up market bursting with handmade goods, creative vibes, and one-of-a-kind finds.
Expect watercolor prints, pottery, jewelry, candles, and clever little gifts you didn’t know you needed (but absolutely do). It’s one of the best ways to support local artists while soaking in the charm of Hudson.
Grab a coffee, bring a friend, and start your morning with a stroll through creativity.
🎷 Hudson Bandstand Concert Series: Blue Lunch Hits the Gazebo
If you didn’t get your fill of live music Saturday night with Jump The Gun at First & Main, don’t hang up those lawn chairs just yet…
This Sunday, July 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, Hudson’s own Gazebo Green will swing to the sounds of Blue Lunch, a high-energy band known for their blues, soul, and New Orleans-style jazz. Think horns, harmonies, and toe-tapping rhythms perfect for a summer night.
It’s part of the Hudson Bandstand Concert Series, sponsored by the Hudson Community Foundation and running through August. These concerts are always free, always family-friendly, and always a vibe.
Pack a chair or blanket, grab a snack from town, and settle in for some smooth Sunday sounds. In case of bad weather, the show moves inside to Hudson Middle School.
Concerts like this are what summer in Hudson is all about. Don’t miss it.
