āļø The Scoop on Hudson Weather
Weāre wrapping up July with some serious sun swaggerāhighs in the 90s, a few clouds pretending they might matter, and not much rain in sight (until Thursday tries to crash the party). Itās hot, but itās summer⦠so weāre just gonna sweat through it and call it character building.
- āļø Today (Monday, July 28) ā 90°/69°: Partly cloudy and steamy. (The kind of day where your steering wheel is basically a branding iron.)
- āļø Tuesday, July 29 ā 91°/69°: Still partly cloudy and flirting with a heatwave. (Perfect for National Chicken Wing Dayābecause what pairs better with wings than humidity?)
- š¤ļø Wednesday, July 30 ā 86°/66°: A little cooler, a little cloudier, but still summer doing its thing. (Might even be patioāfriendly by evening.)
- š§ļø Thursday, July 31 ā 75°/59°: Morning showers roll through, then we dry off. (Just enough rain to water your tomato plants and ruin one outdoor meeting.)
- āļø Friday, August 1 ā 77°/55°: Mostly sunny with cooler air blowing in. (Weāre talking light jacket mornings and sunglasses all day.)
- āļø Saturday, August 2 ā 79°/56°: Another winnerālow humidity, high vibes. (Ideal for morning strolls or ignoring chores.)
- āļø Sunday, August 3 ā 82°/60°: Mostly sunny and breezy. (Basically, the kind of weather that deserves its own brunch.)
So, crank the fans, load up on popsicles, and enjoy the last few sun-soaked days of July. August is coming in smooth.

š° Fresh Off the Clocktower
š National Chicken Wing Day Is Clucking Awesome
Tomorrow is July 29, which means the nation has given us permissionāno, a dutiful missionāto eat wings with zero regrets. And lucky for all of us, some big names are dishing out freebies and deals thatāll make your sauce-stained fingers feel like a badge of honor.
š Applebeeās
BOGO wings are back! Get a free order of boneless or bone-in wings when you order online or through the app. Just use code WINGDAY25 at checkout. Dine-in doesnāt count, so this oneās for the takeout crowd.
š Buffalo Wild Wings
Spend $10 and score a free 6-piece order of wingsātraditional or boneless. Works for dine-in, takeout, or delivery if you use code FREEWINGS. Basically: eat wings, get wings.
š Popeyes
Theyāre stretching the party through August 3 with a BOGO deal on 6-piece bone-in wings. Order through the Popeyes app or website and get your second 6-piece free. Bonus points if you dip each one in something different.
So go aheadācelebrate accordingly. Grab extra napkins, line up the ranch, and let the wings do the talking.
š¤ Teens, Chatbots & Digital BFFs?
Hereās something that might surprise you (or not, depending on how many teens live in your house): a growing number of kids are turning to AI chatbots for advice, support, and everyday convos. Yepāchatting with bots like ChatGPT or Replika has become kind of a thing.
A recent study found that nearly 3 out of 4 teens have tried talking to AI, and a bunch of them say it feels just as goodāor even betterāthan chatting with real people. Why? AIās always available, never judges, and doesnāt roll its eyes when you ask for help writing a text to your crush.
Some teens turn to AI for:
- Friendship advice
- Calming their nerves
- Help with homework or planning out projects
- Practicing conversations theyāre nervous about
Itās easy to see the appeal. But experts are waving a little caution flagāsaying that while these tools can be helpful, they canāt replace real connection. And sometimes, especially for teens feeling lonely, the line between useful tool and emotional crutch can get a little blurry.
So if youāve got a teen at home, this might be a good week to check in and ask, āHeyāhave you ever tried talking to a chatbot?ā (And maybe brace for a longer answer than you expected.)
šÆ Twins Days Turns 50 ā Hereās the Scoop
Twinsburg is getting ready to double down on the fun as Twins Days Festival celebrates its 50th year from August 1ā3. Itās the largest gathering of twins in the world, and it happens just a short drive from Hudson.
This yearās theme? āCheers to 50 Years!ā Expect matching outfits, nostalgic nods to past themes, and lots of double takes.
Hereās what youāll find:
- The always-iconic Double Take Parade kicks things off Saturday morning, packed with synchronized struts, coordinated costumes, and twin-powered joy.
- A full weekend of contests, talent shows, group photos, food vendors, research studies, and more ā all centered around the wonderful world of multiples.
- Everyoneās welcome ā twins, families, curious locals, and anyone who loves a good theme party done right.
It's a feel-good, only-in-Ohio kind of event that brings in twins from across the globeāand gives you an excuse to spend a summer day in nearby Twinsburg surrounded by pure positivity and some truly impressive coordination.
For details, schedule, and parking info, head to twinsdays.org.
š§ Did You Know?
Some identical twins donāt just look alikeāthey reflect each other. Literally.
Theyāre called mirror twins, and they make up about 25% of all identical twin pairs. These twins often have opposite featuresālike one being right-handed and the other left-handed, or having matching birthmarks on opposite sides of the body.
In rare cases, one twin may even have reversed internal organs (a condition called situs inversus). Scientists believe this happens when the egg splits a little later than usualāaround days 9 to 12 after conceptionāafter the bodyās left-right blueprint has already started forming.
Basically, theyāre real-life reflectionsājust without the glass.
Stay curious, Hudson!
š The Scoop To-Do List
š¬ Mystery Movie Monday Returns (Again⦠Yes, Again)
Look, we know weāve posted about this before. And before that. And probably the time before that too. But we canāt help itāMystery Movie Monday at Regal Hudson is back tonight (Monday, July 28), and weāve got a soft spot for movie surprises, buttery popcorn, and PG-rated suspense.
Hereās what we āknowā:
- The movie is PG
- Itās listed as 1 hour and 45 minutes long
- Which probably means itās absolutely not 1 hour and 45 minutes long
- Because the folks at Regal love messing with the sleuths who try to guess early
If youāve never been, the deal is simple: show up, sit down, and watch a brand-new, unreleased movie before anyone else. You wonāt know the title until the screen lights up. And no, we donāt know what it is eitherābut if we did, weād still act surprised. Because thatās half the fun.

We told you that Underground Railroad tour was filling up fast⦠and here we are again. The Hudson Library & Historical Society is hosting New York Times bestselling author Sam Kean on Thursday, August 21 at 6:30 p.m., and this oneās already gaining traction.
Samās new book, Dinner with King Tut, isnāt your average history lecture. Think: DIY mummies, ancient recipes, murder mysteries in bogs, and rogue researchers carving spears to go hunt something with them. Yesāreally.
If his name rings a bell, hereās why:
- Author of The Disappearing Spoon, Caesarās Last Breath, and The Bastard Brigade
- Featured on NPRās Radiolab, Science Friday, and Fresh Air
- Regular contributor to The Atlantic, The New Yorker, and The New York Times Magazine
Books will be available for purchase and signing, thanks to our friends at The Learned Owl.

So if youāre plotting a music-filled weekend between Big Time Rush and Cyndi Lauper, let this be your local kickoff. Weāll remind you again⦠but nowās a good time to pencil it in.
