☀️ The Scoop on Hudson Weather
We’re wrapping up July with some serious sun swagger—highs in the 90s, a few clouds pretending they might matter, and not much rain in sight (until Thursday tries to crash the party). It’s hot, but it’s summer… so we’re just gonna sweat through it and call it character building.
- ☀️ Today (Monday, July 28) – 90°/69°: Partly cloudy and steamy. (The kind of day where your steering wheel is basically a branding iron.)
- ☀️ Tuesday, July 29 – 91°/69°: Still partly cloudy and flirting with a heatwave. (Perfect for National Chicken Wing Day—because what pairs better with wings than humidity?)
- 🌤️ Wednesday, July 30 – 86°/66°: A little cooler, a little cloudier, but still summer doing its thing. (Might even be patio‑friendly by evening.)
- 🌧️ Thursday, July 31 – 75°/59°: Morning showers roll through, then we dry off. (Just enough rain to water your tomato plants and ruin one outdoor meeting.)
- ☀️ Friday, August 1 – 77°/55°: Mostly sunny with cooler air blowing in. (We’re talking light jacket mornings and sunglasses all day.)
- ☀️ Saturday, August 2 – 79°/56°: Another winner—low humidity, high vibes. (Ideal for morning strolls or ignoring chores.)
- ☀️ Sunday, August 3 – 82°/60°: Mostly sunny and breezy. (Basically, the kind of weather that deserves its own brunch.)
So, crank the fans, load up on popsicles, and enjoy the last few sun-soaked days of July. August is coming in smooth.

📰 Fresh Off the Clocktower
🍗 National Chicken Wing Day Is Clucking Awesome
Tomorrow is July 29, which means the nation has given us permission—no, a dutiful mission—to eat wings with zero regrets. And lucky for all of us, some big names are dishing out freebies and deals that’ll make your sauce-stained fingers feel like a badge of honor.
🍎 Applebee’s
BOGO wings are back! Get a free order of boneless or bone-in wings when you order online or through the app. Just use code WINGDAY25 at checkout. Dine-in doesn’t count, so this one’s for the takeout crowd.
🐃 Buffalo Wild Wings
Spend $10 and score a free 6-piece order of wings—traditional or boneless. Works for dine-in, takeout, or delivery if you use code FREEWINGS. Basically: eat wings, get wings.
🍗 Popeyes
They’re stretching the party through August 3 with a BOGO deal on 6-piece bone-in wings. Order through the Popeyes app or website and get your second 6-piece free. Bonus points if you dip each one in something different.
So go ahead—celebrate accordingly. Grab extra napkins, line up the ranch, and let the wings do the talking.
🤖 Teens, Chatbots & Digital BFFs?
Here’s something that might surprise you (or not, depending on how many teens live in your house): a growing number of kids are turning to AI chatbots for advice, support, and everyday convos. Yep—chatting with bots like ChatGPT or Replika has become kind of a thing.
A recent study found that nearly 3 out of 4 teens have tried talking to AI, and a bunch of them say it feels just as good—or even better—than chatting with real people. Why? AI’s always available, never judges, and doesn’t roll its eyes when you ask for help writing a text to your crush.
Some teens turn to AI for:
- Friendship advice
- Calming their nerves
- Help with homework or planning out projects
- Practicing conversations they’re nervous about
It’s easy to see the appeal. But experts are waving a little caution flag—saying that while these tools can be helpful, they can’t replace real connection. And sometimes, especially for teens feeling lonely, the line between useful tool and emotional crutch can get a little blurry.
So if you’ve got a teen at home, this might be a good week to check in and ask, “Hey—have you ever tried talking to a chatbot?” (And maybe brace for a longer answer than you expected.)
👯 Twins Days Turns 50 — Here’s the Scoop
Twinsburg is getting ready to double down on the fun as Twins Days Festival celebrates its 50th year from August 1–3. It’s the largest gathering of twins in the world, and it happens just a short drive from Hudson.
This year’s theme? “Cheers to 50 Years!” Expect matching outfits, nostalgic nods to past themes, and lots of double takes.
Here’s what you’ll find:
- The always-iconic Double Take Parade kicks things off Saturday morning, packed with synchronized struts, coordinated costumes, and twin-powered joy.
- A full weekend of contests, talent shows, group photos, food vendors, research studies, and more — all centered around the wonderful world of multiples.
- Everyone’s welcome — twins, families, curious locals, and anyone who loves a good theme party done right.
It's a feel-good, only-in-Ohio kind of event that brings in twins from across the globe—and gives you an excuse to spend a summer day in nearby Twinsburg surrounded by pure positivity and some truly impressive coordination.
For details, schedule, and parking info, head to twinsdays.org.
🧐 Did You Know?
Some identical twins don’t just look alike—they reflect each other. Literally.
They’re called mirror twins, and they make up about 25% of all identical twin pairs. These twins often have opposite features—like one being right-handed and the other left-handed, or having matching birthmarks on opposite sides of the body.
In rare cases, one twin may even have reversed internal organs (a condition called situs inversus). Scientists believe this happens when the egg splits a little later than usual—around days 9 to 12 after conception—after the body’s left-right blueprint has already started forming.
Basically, they’re real-life reflections—just without the glass.
Stay curious, Hudson!
📅 The Scoop To-Do List
🎬 Mystery Movie Monday Returns (Again… Yes, Again)
Look, we know we’ve posted about this before. And before that. And probably the time before that too. But we can’t help it—Mystery Movie Monday at Regal Hudson is back tonight (Monday, July 28), and we’ve got a soft spot for movie surprises, buttery popcorn, and PG-rated suspense.
Here’s what we “know”:
- The movie is PG
- It’s listed as 1 hour and 45 minutes long
- Which probably means it’s absolutely not 1 hour and 45 minutes long
- Because the folks at Regal love messing with the sleuths who try to guess early
If you’ve never been, the deal is simple: show up, sit down, and watch a brand-new, unreleased movie before anyone else. You won’t know the title until the screen lights up. And no, we don’t know what it is either—but if we did, we’d still act surprised. Because that’s half the fun.
Tickets are just $5, and the movie starts at 7:00 p.m. sharp at Regal Hudson.
Go ahead and bring your best guess—but don’t be mad if it’s totally wrong.
🚶 Underground Railroad Walking Tour Returns
This one always books up fast, so we’re giving you the early scoop: the Underground Railroad Walking Tour is back at the Hudson Library & Historical Society on Tuesday, August 26 at 10 a.m.
Hudson was once known as the “citadel of abolitionism,” and this guided tour dives into the homes, people, and stories that made our town a key stop on the Underground Railroad. You’ll walk the same streets abolitionist John Brown once did and learn about the real history woven through our neighborhoods.
Tours meet at the library entrance and are weather dependent—so wear comfy shoes and dress for the forecast.
Registration is open now, and spots usually go quick.

📚 History, Hieroglyphs & Mummified Mishaps — Sam Kean’s Coming to Town
We told you that Underground Railroad tour was filling up fast… and here we are again. The Hudson Library & Historical Society is hosting New York Times bestselling author Sam Kean on Thursday, August 21 at 6:30 p.m., and this one’s already gaining traction.
Sam’s new book, Dinner with King Tut, isn’t your average history lecture. It dives into the sounds, smells, tastes, and downright weird experiments of modern archaeologists trying to bring lost civilizations back to life. Think: DIY mummies, ancient recipes, murder mysteries in bogs, and rogue researchers carving spears to go hunt something with them. Yes—really.
If his name rings a bell, here’s why:
- Author of The Disappearing Spoon, Caesar’s Last Breath, and The Bastard Brigade
- Featured on NPR’s Radiolab, Science Friday, and Fresh Air
- Regular contributor to The Atlantic, The New Yorker, and The New York Times Magazine
Books will be available for purchase and signing, thanks to our friends at The Learned Owl.
And yes, registration is required—so if this sounds like your thing (or your neighbor’s thing), don’t wait.
Sign up here before it’s ancient history.
🎸 Summer Music Nights: Swizzle Stick Band Is Up Next
We know it’s still a few days away, but this is one of those events worth circling on your calendar now—because when it sneaks up on you Friday night, you'll be glad you're already in your lawn chair.
On Friday, August 1 from 7 to 9 p.m., the Swizzle Stick Band is taking over the Hudson Green for another round of Summer Music Nights. Expect energetic covers, familiar classics, and the kind of toe-tapping tunes that make you forget your dinner’s getting cold in the picnic basket.
And yes, it’s completely free—just bring a blanket, your people, and maybe a little bug spray (Ohio evenings are wildcards).
So if you’re plotting a music-filled weekend between Big Time Rush and Cyndi Lauper, let this be your local kickoff. We’ll remind you again… but now’s a good time to pencil it in.
📅 Mark Your Calendar—Pack the Pond Is One Week Away!
Clear next Monday evening—because Pack the Pond is making waves at Hudson Springs Park on August 4 from 5–8 p.m., and it’s one of those feel-good community nights that sneaks up on you (in the best way).
Expect free kayak, canoe, and paddleboard rentals courtesy of Kent State’s Recreation crew. You can bring your own gear too—or join the Pack the Pond Challenge and see how many boats we can fit on the lake without causing a paddle-powered traffic jam.
There’ll also be cookout food, geocaching demos from the Muddy Dawgs, and a raffle for some very splashy prizes (including a Pelican kayak). It’s the kind of summer evening that makes you forget your inbox even exists.
📍 Where: Hudson Springs Park
📅 When: Monday, August 4, 5–8 p.m.
🌧️ Rain Date: Thursday, August 7
Spots fill up faster than you can say “double kayak,” so register here and come float into a perfect Hudson night.

This isn’t just a concert—it’s a live-action Nickelodeon reunion. Expect all the hits, big sing-alongs, and more nostalgia than your old iPod Shuffle could hold.

🎤 Cyndi Lauper Brings the Color to Blossom
We just told you about the Big Time Rush concert on Tuesday… and now we’re back to tell you that Blossom is going full pop icon two nights in a row.
On Wednesday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m., the legendary Cyndi Lauper is bringing her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour to town. And yes—it’s exactly what it sounds like: a final victory lap of singalongs, sequins, and pure ‘80s joy.
She’ll be joined by Jake Wesley Rogers, and together they’ll take you through decades of hits like “Time After Time,” “True Colors,” and (of course) “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”
If BTR was your nostalgia appetizer, this is the full-course flashback.
🎟️ Tickets are still available, but this is a farewell tour—once she’s gone, she’s gone. Get yours here before they’re snapped up.

Cyndi’s taking her final bow—so if you've ever belted “She Bop” into a hairbrush, this night’s for you.
🎶 Goo Goo Dolls Are Coming to Blossom—Yes, Another One!
Look, we know we’ve been talking about Blossom a lot lately… but can you blame us? Between Big Time Rush, Cyndi Lauper, and now the Goo Goo Dolls, this place is basically turning into Northeast Ohio’s summer concert capital.
On Tuesday, August 12, the Goo Goo Dolls hit the stage with Dashboard Confessional in tow, bringing you the ultimate early-2000s feels. If you’ve ever screamed “Iris” into your steering wheel or had a serious moment to “Hands Down,” this one’s for you.
It’s all part of their Summer Anthem Tour, and yep—tickets are already moving. You can grab yours here.
We’ll try not to talk about Blossom too much… but no promises with a lineup like this.
